First, the continents or parts thereof characteristic of the various expressions of tribal art, namely: Africa, North and South America, Southeast Asia and Oceania (*). This fact results in the following types of tribal art books:

1 - books that globally identify all continents and parts where tribal art occurs.

2 - books that deal with a particular continent or part of a continent.

3 - books that discuss the tribes within a particular continent.

4 - books that examine a particular country and its tribes.

5 - books that depict a certain part of a country with its tribes.

6 - books with a specific tribe as subject.

7 - books that focus on a specific area of tribal art, such as musical instruments.

8 - books that deal with all other aspects of tribal life in addition to tribal art.

9 - finally, the standard work that no tribal art library large or small should be without.
